| Pacific Harbour has the distinction of having what is known as “the best shark dive in the world ” played out in the lagoon on Shark Reef, a safe distance away from any resorts and homes. This unbelievable shark dive was set up by a local dive operation who worked closely with the Government of Fiji and the traditional owners of Shark Reef to have it designated as a protected Marine Park which is breathing new life into the reef systems. In these protected waters divers can safely watch as lemon, nurse, reef and bull sharks (and the occasional tiger shark) cruise in to be hand fed by the feeders of Beqa Island who are protected by their ancient gods. Beqa Lagoon is also recognised as “the soft coral capital of the world” so if you are not up to swimming with the sharks there are stunning coral dives with a cacophony of colourful soft corals, pretty fish, intriguing wrecks and exhilarating drifts to keep you more than satisfied and yet still wanting more. For those not scuba certified, do your dive course with any one of three dive operations in town, or simply enjoy the spectacular snorkeling. | An international game fishing tournament running out of the Pearl South Pacific is held yearly for those keen on catching that big one; Wahoo, Tuna, Sailfish & Marlin are out in abundance! Fishing charters are also available year round For you surfers , just take a short boat ride out to one the best kept secret surf spots, a left hand break that goes by the name of Frigates and surf your day away. The river rafting tour is a fabulous way to start discovering Fiji. The team at Rivers Fiji are committed to sustainable tourism practices and they work very closely with neighbouring riverside villages. Along with their local guides they give you a day and an experience to remember. | |
